Background/History: 50 years before James was born his grandfather, Martin Kingsley, was hard at work, founding KingSmith, one of the technological behemoths that made Delmont the grand city it was. It grew exponentially, expanding with breakthrough after breakthrough, ranging from military contracts to improvements for medical equipment. As the years passed, the Kingsleys' name became more and more attached to the city, with their various charities and massive workforce. As such, love and respect for the city were instilled into James from an early age. His father, Donald Kingsley, would often say, "It is our job, as Kingsleys, to repay this city that has given us so much."
James was sent to the country's most prestigus boarding schools, where he excelled in math, science, and annoying his professors. While at school, however, his family's company took a heavy downturn with the economy. Almost the entire company had to be laid off, and all but a handful of the labs were closed. James' father became more distant, constantly working on keeping the company afloat. As James graduated from school and returned home, he found a completely different city than the one he had remembered. A city once filled with music and work was instead filled with crime and the sound of distant sirens. A city that once attracted millions of hard-working people with the promise of a better life in the burgeoning middle class, now drove people away in droves with its crushing poverty. With his father focused on saving the company, James decided to forgo college, at least for now, and do what he could to improve living conditions within Delmont.
The climbing crime wave seemed like the obvious place to start. Traditionally one would battle a crime wave by increasing the number of officers on the street, but the city couldn't afford it, and without the backing of KingSmith, James couldn't donate that kind of money himself. He decided to try a new strategy in the war on crime: shock & awe. James figured that criminals would be much more hesitant to rob a bank when they knew it might mean a run-in with something supernatural. As with anything supernatural, however, it would lose all psychological effect if it had an easy explanation, so it had to be spectacular and it had to be a secret.
So, after convincing his father to let him live in one of the abandoned KingSmith labs, he went to work. He tinkered with several ideas, but settled on improving the company's old Muscular Diodes. By injecting them under the skin, it would appear to anyone unfamiliar with the technology that he had been gifted with super strength. Not the most original of abilities, but definitely one of the more intimidating ones. Coupled with a costume, James was ready to begin battling crime. So far he has managed to prevent a few muggings, and feels he's ready to move on to more dangerous work.
